Set Team Away Days

Team away days are needed to allow time for the team to develop a system that works for your service and manage the change. Use team days focused on implementation to:

  • Discuss the whole concept of CAPA = aquire KNOWLEDGE
  • Discuss and understand each of the 11 by planning a workshop in a team away day on each individual component
    = gain UNDERSTANDING. This may take several away days.
  • Define what skills you have in the team – and at what level (Core and Advanced).
  • Allow expression of feelings about the change.

You can use any of the team Workshop ideas from this website.

As you may have read earlier in the book or on this website we recommend having at least 4 team away days each year (Richmond has 6!). To implement CAPA you may need more.

So the CAPA leadership team could initially decide when these days and the extra ones could be and take these dates to the team meeting. For this process it might be helpful if the leadership team set some of the content, for example to discuss Choice and do the workshop ideas around this, setting time for anxieties to be discussed. Finally allow the team to choose some of the content for themselves.
